Nearly 195 million shoppers hit stores and the web looking for the best Black Friday deals this year. But sales still weren’t quite what retailers had hoped for. In fact, while there were more shoppers this year than last, retailers only saw a 0.5 percent increase in sales. Keep in mind, retail sales can be an important economic indicator because consumer spending drives so much of our economy. But while a full retail comeback from Friday alone may not be likely, many retailers are hopeful Cyber Monday sales will help make up the difference. A sign that once again most Americans are watching their budget and shopping for the best bargains this holiday season.
