Thanksgiving is all about family, friends and lots of food. Of course, trying to stay within your budget can make the holidays a little trickier. But there are lots of ways to save.
Let’s talk turkey. While the grocery store likely has the cheapest bird, you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg for free range or organic. Keep in mind, these tend to be a little more expensive – but shop around. You can usually find good deals at a local farm, farmers market, online, etc.
Before you buy, consider the costs:
Regular turkey: $0.89-$2.99 per pound
Organic: $3.20-$6.99 per pound
Free Range: $2.99-$6.93 per pound
A few ways to save and still get stuffed:
- Potluck: ask guests to pitch in and bring a side. This can help make dinner cheaper and less stressful.
- If you’re not set on turkey – try one of these ideas.
- Buy items that are in season or try canned cranberries, sweet potatoes, etc.
