**This post is part of the Blog Action Day on Poverty**
Hello fellow Stumblers, please join the cause by giving this post a thumbs up!
Being a non-profit, PIC Current usually discusses issues that are focused on the needs of low-income communities. From health care, to banking to education, we’ve been writing about these stories for several months. But why?
As you might guess, this was not a spur of the moment decision. We are part of a global non-profit called One Economy, which is dedicated to bridging the digital divide to help those in poverty enter the digitial economic mainstream.
It really is about providing access and opportunity and then letting people use the tools to take control of their own future.
- finding jobs
- online banking
- social networking
- learning
- finding reliable information
All of these are things that those in the mainstream digital world take for granted. But for those left behind, these are skills and abilities that put them at a further disadvantage.
This blog is part of our efforts to help people get reliable information. But we are just the tip of the iceberg. Need to finding jobs or do online banking? Got it covered with The Beehive. Social networking? Just take a look at 24/7 Townhall. Want more learning with compelling online videos? We will soon be launching the Public Internet Channel.
We’re obviously not the only anti-poverty organization. Many feed, house and heal the poor. What they do fills an immediate need and we are grateful and in awe of their service.
What we do is for the long term. You know the old saying “Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and eats for a lifetime.” Well, that’s just what we do. Only with keyboards.

I love this post!
Thanks for visiting my blog today and sharing your thoughts.
