Just as we start watching Gustav spin away, we can turn our eyes to the Atlantic and watch Hanna dance up the east coast.

The tropical storm has killed at least 25 in Haiti and been battering the Bahamas today.  It is expected to turn into a hurricane Thursday and aim for the east coast somewhere in the Carolinas.

For those of you living in that area, you might remember what Hurricane Isabel did when it slammed into the coast in 2003.  At this point, Hanna is projected to be a category 1 hurricane with winds of about 80 miles per hour at landfall.

It may not sound like much, but storms this size can still cause serious damage and loss of life.  Plus, there is a chance it could get even stronger before it comes ashore.

So if you live along the coast from Georgia to Virginia, now is the time to get prepared and keep an eye on the storm.

To learn more about getting ready for a hurricane, visit our sister site, The Beehive.  To track Hanna’s progress, I found this really cool interactive map at Storm Pulse.

How prepared are you? Do you remember Isabel and have stories about that storm?  Let us know in the comment section.

What is this?

You know you could even say there is a little bit of Floyd like feel too as you mentioned Isabel. Part of me thinks that maybe Hanna is like the Timex storm it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. We will see. I think the best forecast and the most straightforward one is Hanna as a category 1 but I can definitely see an argument for a strong Tropical storm or possibly a week category 2… The next 24 to 48 hours will be fun

Thanks for the input Brian. I completely forgot about Floyd. We’ll have to wait and see where this thing is on Friday morning before we will know more.

    Thanks again for the comment.
